Arsenal transfer news: Nicolas Pepe breaks silence on £65m summer switch | Football | Sport

Arsenal are one of many in a pack of clubs hunting the signature of Pepe as they look to strengthen their forward line ahead of next season.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also keen on the Ivorian international and would have more money to spend in the coming months.

France Football reported last week that Arsenal have opened talks with Lille about a potential transfer but the French club’s asking price will be too high for the Gunners.

And now Pepe has spoken about his future, but has still refused to let out his decision.

“We don’t talk about it, the season is not over yet,” he told beIN Sports.

“Once it is finished we will be able to talk about it, but now no.”

It’s also thought that Arsenal’s budget for the summer will be around £40million, while Lille will ask for around £65m for Pepe, who is Ligue 1’s second top scorer this season with 20 goals.

Arsenal could boost their budget for the summer, however, by winning the Europa League against Chelsea.

Winning the Europa League would also put Arsenal into net season’s Champions League, something manager Unai Emery knows is of huge importance.

“We prepare like when it’s an international break,” he said.

“We will have two days off and for the first week we will not be thinking about the final.

“We will train three days in London and then next weekend we will have it off and then we will start on Tuesday in London with three days training preparing with all of our focus on the final.

“We will go to Baku three or four days before the final, Saturday I think, and prepare for the match over the last three training sessions.

“It’s the same as when we have an international break.”

Pepe may make his decision based on whether Arsenal will be playing Champions League football next season.

The Gunners haven’t been involved in the competition since the 2016/17 season.
